An installation exploring migration, belonging, and movement. In collaboration with migrant carpenters, Divecha has created vernacular roof structures using bamboo, rope, and repurposed billboard tarps. The structures, flipped and erected vertically, form a cityscape of aspiration, with their intricate scaffolding grids and oversized images drawing a parallel to the allure of Dubai.
About the participant
VIKRAM DIVECHA
Beirut-born and Mumbai-raised, Vikram Divecha is an artist and educator based in Dubai. He holds an MFA in Visual Art from Columbia University and has participated in the Whitney Museum's Independent Study program. Divecha has taught at the American University of Sharjah in the College of Architecture, Art, and Design, and has extensive experience as a creative professional in both the cultural and media sectors.
