Exploring the notion of coloured flags being used for signalling or prompting attention for a specific problem, Red Flags by Anahita Razmi and courtesy of Carbon 12, comprises eye-catching banners and flags in different vivid colour gradients. The series of flags will be spread across different locations and public sites on Alserkal Avenue, sparking curiosity and thought-provoking reflections amongst festival visitors.

About Artist

Anahita Razmi’s video, installation and performance works focus on issues of identity and gender and examine processes of cultural appropriation in which the meanings of existing images, artefacts are questioned by framing them in a different context. The artist studied at Bauhaus-University Weimar, Pratt Institute New York and State Academy of Art and Design Stuttgart, prior to exhibiting widely internationally and in numerous institutions like Zachęta National Gallery of Art, Warsaw, Kunstraum Innsbruck, Austria, Kunstmuseum Stuttgart, Germany, Kunsthalle Baden-Baden, Germany, The National Art Center, Tokyo and within the 55th Venice Biennale.

A resident gallery of Alserkal Avenue, Carbon 12 is known as one of the original spaces of contemporary art in Dubai.
