Bu Kolthoum is known for being the Arab world’s soul and funk-influenced music producer, songwriter, rapper and singer. The Syrian artist often shares his deeply personal experiences with injustice, loss and struggle through his lyrics. He also explores social and political themes, inspiring young listeners in the Middle East and beyond.

The artist left Syria due to the war, flying to Jordan before moving to Europe, where he continues to work on his craft. Many of his songs are now considered to be classics of Arabic modern music.

Over the years, Bu Kolthoum has amassed a huge following and had the opportunity to perform on some of the biggest stages in Europe and the wider world. Some highlights include Holland Festival, Roskilde Festival and Lowlands Festival. He also toured with British singer Damon Albarn and The Orchestra of Syrian Musicians.

Bu Kolthoum will be performing live at Quoz Arts Fest’s main stage on Sunday 29 January 2023.
