Bright Memories is set in the yard of Alserkal Avenue encouraging interaction and engagement.These dispensers provide free water to passersby—school children walking to class, construction workers, grocery delivery drivers, and countless others.
Over time, these simple machines have become iconic, woven into the fabric of UAE culture, holding deep sentimental value for many. Personally, he has cherished memories tied to these dispensers. He remembers walking to school with friends, stopping at homes that had them. After hours of playing football in the streets, they would eagerly seek out the ones offering the coolest water to quench our thirst.
For those who share similar memories,it may evoke a sense of nostalgia. For those unfamiliar with this cultural tradition, it offers the chance to create new connections and experiences.
About the participant
Abdulla Alneyadi
Abdulla Alneyadi is an Artist and a Filmmaker based in Dubai. He was awarded first prize in sculpture 2019, The Sultan Bin Ali Al Owais Cultural Award.
He was a participant of Salama Bint Hamdan Emerging Artists Fellowship (SEAF cohort 7), in partnership with the Rhode Island School of design and also a participant of the Arab Film Studio Narrative program.
